Content: Chapter 7, The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee
What is your purpose? The God of the universe reveals His purpose to us through His word. In chapter 7 of The Normal Christian Life, Watchman Nee gave us a further explanation of the eternal purpose of God through the book of Romans. He opened up this chapter by asking,
“What is God’s purpose in creation and what is His purpose in redemption? It may be summed up in two phrases, one from each of our two sections of Romans. It is: ‘The glory of God” (Romans 3:23), and ‘The glory of the children of God” (Romans 8:21).” (The Normal Christian Life, p.105)
Many Christians from all over the world read this book and receive spiritual enlightenment by Watchman Nee’s utterance in this book. What’s our guest highlight in reading through this chapter?
“In the portion of the chapter concerning Adams choice we are told that the “Tree of Life” represents God Himself, because God is life. He is the highest form of life, as well as the source of life and the goal of life. I appreciate that we eat the fruit of a tree rather than the tree itself. We can’t eat the tree but we can eat the fruit. The fruit is the portion of the tree that we can receive, that we can take into our being. We can’t receive God as God but we can receive Him as Jesus. In this analogy, Jesus is the fruit of the “Tree of life.” Jesus is God in a form that we can receive. He came so that we can receive God into our very being.” (BC)
